When rope access is the right choice
Rope access is the answer when the only way in is through the balcony: a couch that won't turn the corner in a stairwell, a bed base too long for the lift, or a building with no lift at all. The item is wrapped and padded, tied off securely, and hoisted by rope from the street or courtyard to the balcony, with a team member guiding it at the bottom and at the top.
Crane-assisted lifts
For the biggest and heaviest pieces, or for heights where a rope lift isn't suitable, we arrange a crane-assisted lift. We'll look at photos of the item and the building and tell you which method is safest before you book.
Rope access prices
Every rope-access job is different, so we look at the site before quoting. Rope access starts from $400. Moving a piano adds $100 to our normal hourly rates. Prices exclude GST. See all our prices.
Heavy and fragile items we move
- Pianos
- Marble and stone dining tables and benchtops

- Sculptures, large artworks and mirrors
- Other heavy or awkward pieces that need extra hands
How we plan a heavy or difficult move
- You send photos of the item and of the access: stairs, doorways, the balcony and where the truck can park.
- We work out the method (stairs, rope or crane), the team size and the equipment.
- We confirm the price and anything you need to arrange, such as notice to your building manager.
- On the day, the item is padded and strapped, moved, and placed where you want it.
Common questions
Do I need approval from my building for a balcony lift?
Many strata buildings ask for notice before furniture is lifted over a balcony. Check with your building or strata manager. We can give them the details of the job and our public liability insurance.
What do you need to know to quote a rope-access job?
Photos of the item with rough measurements, the floor level, photos of the balcony and of the ground below, and where the truck can park.
Can you move a piano up or down stairs?
Yes. Moving a piano costs $100 on top of our normal rates. Tell us the type of piano and send photos of the stairs, and we'll plan the team and equipment needed.
